I need a small, reliable routine that automatically pulls down Windows executable files so I can run zero-day security tests against them. The flow is straightforward: point the tool at a list of URLs (local text file, CSV, or API endpoint—I’m flexible), have it grab each .exe silently, verify the hash, log the activity time-stamped, and drop the binaries into a folder I specify. It only has to work on Windows and should be easy to trigger from the command line or a scheduled task. A compact PowerShell script is fine, but Python with requests/urllib3 is equally acceptable if you bundle any non-standard libraries. Deliverables • Source code with inline comments • Brief README covering setup, usage, and any required permissions • Simple log/output sample that shows successful downloads and hash checks Success for me is running the script, watching the targeted executables land in the directory with matching hashes, and seeing clean, readable logs I can hand straight to my security team.
