Role: Supplier Quality Assurance Technologist

Job Location: THG HQ, Manchester (WA15 0AF) – Office Based

THG Nutrition is home to some of the world's leading nutrition and wellness brands, including Myprotein. Our Quality team plays a critical role in ensuring that every product meets the highest standards of safety, legality, quality, and compliance. As Supplier Quality Assurance Technologist, you will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage supplier approvals,

maintain

compliance documentation, support food safety systems, and drive continuous improvement across our supply chain.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the approval and ongoing

performance monitoring

of raw material suppliers, packaging suppliers, and contract manufacturers, ensuring

full

compliance with food safety, quality, legal, and due diligence requirements.

Maintain and

continuously improve

supplier approval processes and systems, ensuring

all

supplier records and documentation

are

accurate,

current,

and audit ready.

Review supplier specifications, technical documentation, certifications, and supporting evidence to ensure

alignment with internal standards, customer

requirements

,

and regulatory obligations.

Conduct

comprehensive

supplier

/ ingredient

food safety

risk assessments

as part of the onboarding and approval process, including VACCP

evaluation

and

horizon scanning activities to identify

current and

emerging risks.

Evaluate and

interpret

technical data to support

informed

decision-making

related to food safety,

quality,

and

compliance.

Ensure supplier

/ manufacturer data is complete, accurate and readily accessible, supporting compliance with

food safety, quality and any certification requirements.

Provide technical

expertise to support

new product development projects, ensuring

raw materials and packaging

meet safety, legal and quality standards.

Build

and maintain

strong

supplier

relationships,

driving

continuous improvement initiatives to reduce complaints,

minimise

non-conformances, and

mitigate

supply chain risks.

Analyse supplier performance

metrics,

identify

trends, and

generate meaningful insights and reports to

support business decision-making.

Support the

ongoing

development

and optimisation

of supplier compliance and approval systems.

Contribute to

internal, customer, and third-party audits

(including BRCGS, ISO, FDA, and other recognised standards), ensuring readiness and effective audit outcomes.

Collaborate

cross-functionally with

Procurement, Product Development, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, and Quality

teams to drive alignment and ensure

compliance

across the supply chain.

Requirements

Degree qualified in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline, or

equivalent

food industry experience in a technical role

in the food industry.

Demonstrated experience in

Supplier Quality Assurance, Technical, or Quality Assurance roles within the food manufacturing, nutrition, FMCG, or food industry sectors.

Strong

understanding

of food safety principles, including HACCP, GMP,

food hygiene regulations, risk assessment

methodologies,

and food industry best practices.

Proven experience

in

reviewing supplier documentation

and

specifications,

ensuring compliance with technical,

regulatory and customer requirements.

Experience conducting

first and/or second party audits

with a structured risk-based approach.

Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality management systems, with the ability to apply these in a fast-paced commercial environment.

Strong analytical

capability,

with the ability to interpret data and identify trends, and support risk-based decision making.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships both internally and externally.

Highly organised with strong attention to detail and

the ability to prioritise workload effectively.

Able to

manage multiple priorities and

perform

effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven

environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to utilise tools for reporting,

analysis,

and communication.

Desirable

Experience working with

recognised food safety and quality standards such as

BRCGS, ISO, FDA, or equivalent frameworks.

Awareness and practical understanding of

TACCP, and VACCP principles

in relation to food defence and fraud prevention.

Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor

qualifications

, demonstrating the ability to conduct structured and effective audits.

Experience supporting

or participating in external certification and regulatory audits.

Experience within sports nutrition, food supplements, food manufacturing, or FMCG environments.
